1,00,248 farmers committed suicides between 1993 & 2003 814 since July 2006 70 in January 2007 88 in February 98 in March 40 till date 6 in last 24 hrs. Who is responsible for this shameful data? Government? Politicians? Or farmers himself? Why this shameful data continue to rise even after two relief packages for this region, one by the state and one by the center government since December 2005? No body is ready to take responsibility even now it is just a regular filler news item for the newspapers and news channels. Farmers took loans with the dreams of good future and prosperity of their family. But the reality is their cruel truth. Who is going to take care of those families who lost their earning member(s). On average three farmers commit suicide in Vidarbha region every day. The main cause of these suicides is loans, sometimes less than Rs 10,000. Cotton is the main crop of this area. Sometime I feel that we Indians are confused somewhere in our fast lifestyle. We do proud on our culture and always look in the direction of western culture. And due to this we are like pendulum. Our confusion is that which one is right, our culture or western. I know it is happening for a very long time. About 10 years back the situation was the same, even it was same for 20 years back……. It was same for 30 years back…. And so on… I just want to explain that it is not new that we are confused regarding it. Why we are confused? I have no any specific answer or explanation.
